Fuck yes.

After all the terribleness that has gone down this week, I am glad that something is going relatively well.

Also, the contact for Nissan was very pleasant in email.  I was pleased.

I know, right?

Sometimes, I think, it's easy to get lost in GAH BADNESS DOOOOOM and forget that, hey, sometimes, good things are going on.

I'm currently watching netball. Self-confident women with healthy bodies - even a couple who are large by the standards of Beauty Myths and crap like that, except, hi, they're TOP-LEVEL ATHLETES so screw you, people who'd call them "fat and unhealthy" - playing sport with dedication and intensity.

Their fanbase is mostly young girls, too, so the way they present themselves is so *positive* - they don't do stuff that exploits them as OMG Hot Chix because they're out to be the image they'd want their daughters to see. Player profile sections today were interviews with some players who share a house, and showing that some of them are girly girls who like shoes and makeup, and some of them totally aren't, and some of them cook, some of them don't, but each of them owns who they are, flaws and virtues alike, with pride and confidence.

Even if they have their doubts and insecurities, that's not quite what they show, because these are women who are not perfect, but they're good role models for the young girls who are their fans, and it's just another thing that really makes me feel good about the world.

Look at Vilimaina Davu. She's stocky and solid - despite being 190cm tall, which means she's about 6'4" of muscle and strength and she's an athlete good enough to have played for Fiji AND New Zealand. And she's out there telling girls to believe in themselves, and seriously how awesome is she? Especially for all those girls who feel like freaks because they're tall or big or both.

*fangirls shamelessly*
