notes on the topic of AWESOME
The Times of London has a digital archive of all of its newspapers from 1785 to 1985.
All of them.
I don't know if this is generally accessible or if I'm benefitting from currently accessing it off a university network, but it is inexpressably awesome nonetheless.

Cool
It looks like general access costs £74.95 p.a or £14.95 p.month or £4.95 p.day to search.

*hugs university-based access*

Re: Cool
The Internet is awesome, isn't it?
I've been looking at stuff about the Crimean War, because I read a reference in a book about W.H. Russell's telegram dispatches from the Crimea being the first instance of immediate, on-the-spot reporting on war that really affected the people back in Britain, as it showed the discombobulation of the troops, which I found interesting. But there's no end of things to look at, really.
And honestly, looking at it online is a lot less unnerving than looking at original copies of books published in the 18th century. SO OLD SO FRAGILE WHAT IF I BREAK IT etc.
Re: Cool
The public interface looks a little more annoying (though I admit it is prettier), but I'm sure it's the same content, so... up to you if you want to subscribe, I guess?
