The Internet is awesome, isn't it?
I've been looking at stuff about the Crimean War, because I read a reference in a book about W.H. Russell's telegram dispatches from the Crimea being the first instance of immediate, on-the-spot reporting on war that really affected the people back in Britain, as it showed the discombobulation of the troops, which I found interesting. But there's no end of things to look at, really.
And honestly, looking at it online is a lot less unnerving than looking at original copies of books published in the 18th century. SO OLD SO FRAGILE WHAT IF I BREAK IT etc.
btw, confirmed: You need university access for the Infotrac thing. I can only access the academic interface via connection to my university VPN. :)
The public interface looks a little more annoying (though I admit it is prettier), but I'm sure it's the same content, so... up to you if you want to subscribe, I guess?
