There's a disturbingly strong correlation between my general fondness for people, and how much I allcaps at them. On the bright side, I'm unlikely to get judged by strangers for being internets and allcaps; on the down side...

... oh, maybe there isn't one.

I had my psych today, but am feeling much better after it thanks to fangirling crazily with [livejournal.com profile] lazulisong.

Unrelatedly, I also placed an Amazon UK order; I needed to get a book, elected also to get some DVDs I've been wanting forever. I decided to pick up Jonathan Creek. I really wanted the first two seasons; I ended up getting the complete seasons 1-4, on the grounds that it was cheaper than just the first two, and I might enjoy the later seasons too; they do have one of my favourite actresses in them, though I hear the basic tone/setup of the show itself drifted away from what it was at the start. (It's not as completely bizarre as it sounds - the complete series appears to be on special, marked down about 60%. Good timing to get it, I guess.)

This is what happens, though, when you don't buy anything until you need to, at which point you buy some things you've been wanting to buy for ages: you need to buy a book marked at 6 pounds, and place an order of about 73. And that's with restraint. (I'm a terrible sucker for buying books if I don't control myself carefully. I have a weakness for non-fiction, and there's an awful lot of it out there...)

At psych today I did find out that my recent problems with severe insomnia and nausea are likely to be a byproduct of depression and anxiety. Symptom, not cause. Useful.

Current Mood: tired

p.s: soft subs (http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_69892.htm) are available for Mei-chan's Butler episodes 1&2.

in episode 2 some girl makes sato takeru get on all fours and be a chair.

I AM TOTALLY DOWN WITH THIS.

softsubs are just a subtitle file that you load with the raw video. Hardsubs have the subtitles encoded right onto the video. :o TimeLesSubs just released Mei-chan episode 1 hardsubbed, if you prefer that.

Ahhh. Awesome. I think I'll get the hardsubs because softsubs sound dangerously complicated. >.>

Thank you. :3

You misspelt correlation! Quick before anyone (else) notices! With you on the book purchasing, I have the same problem myself. Also, 73 pounds is a lot of money.

Oops, fixed.

And yeah, I know, although the pound has slipped a bit, but this is a couple of years' worth of noted things-to-buy from Amazon UK. (I have a tendency to decide I want something, but that it's not worth ordering from Amazon just for that, so when I finally need something relatively urgently, I order six things at once. It saves on shipping costs.)

Fortunately, with my Thing for non-fiction, I'm going back to uni this semester and will have the Reid at my disposal.

do you know about fishpond.com.au? it is a new zealand company (charges in AU$ if you want, so no currency conversion fee) that has free postage for any order over $50. the prices are cheaper than Australian book stores, and they order books from publishers all over the world so can source pretty much any book that's in print.

because the people who run most companies in Australia are baby boomers (read computer illiterate)?

I had vaguely heard of it, but it's less helpful when you also want UK DVDs, but thank you. :)

they do dvds as well, though they tend to be more expensive than JBs, so not much point if both will order them in for you.

Happiness Seminar

(Link)
So as usual on the first staff day back, the school gets some guest speaker in and does a presentation on something - today it was on Happiness, by Doctor 'Happy' who is the CHO (Chief Happiness Officer) of the Happiness Institute. You get the idea.

Anyway, he was talking about how most psychology stops at the point where they have helped someone get from depression/eating disorder/mental illness etc (say, minus 9 or 10 on a scale) to 'normal' (0 on the scale). But there is not a lot of teaching/studies etc. on studying wellness and how to get there (ie. getting to positive 9 or 10 on the scale).

He made lots of interesting points - I'd be interested in sharing them with you at some stage and getting your views.

Anyway. Just thought I'd share :)

That does sound really interesting, and it is a good point. Probably a bit too much for me to take on until I get to the 0-point, though...

But thank you for sharing. ♥

BIG HUG!

Insomnia-wise, I suggest a glass of cold water. Really icy. Lowers your body's core temp, which in turn makes it easier to fall asleep. And its all natural (as far as tapwater goes :) so it shouldn't interfere with your free-range brain chemistry, which which I can sympathise greatly.

Oh, and another BIG HUG!

*hugs back*

Interesting idea. Fortunately, I slept okay last night, because the air con came back, but I did have a glass of cold Appletiser not long before bed. :3
