[livejournal.com profile] tevriel: it helps to realise that there are only a few places where your string is contacting the guitar or you. The top peg, the point on your fretboard where your finger holds down the string, the fret itself, and the bridge. If there's a buzz it's from contact, so it must be occurring at one of those places. Easy!
