Moments of Permanence - I am reminded that people change

About I am reminded that people change

Just glanced at my bio on this very site. Observations:

1) it still said I was in my late twenties, which hasn't been true for a while

2) it kind of generally doesn't read like something I would write now, even if I don't find any of it offensively disagreeable or anything.

I was just looking over the news intro thing. My brain kind of fell in a hole the last couple of years so I'm really behind and out of touch with everything and everyone, and the discussion of seed accounts and why they try not to sell more of them etc made me realise that not only do I make rather light use of the paid features I get with my seed account, I no longer have any real idea of what they are.

I'm pretty sure I have more icons than a free account?

Also, I've been using DW - with some substantial gaps that one day I will probably regret - for almost eight years.

extra icons is definitely a thing with seed/paid accounts. But as someone who doesn't pay any attention to the features of paid/seed accounts either, I don't know more than that (I only know about the icons because it has come up in conversations twice in the last week). Oh, except that there are no features that you get with seed accounts that you don't get with ongoing fee paid accounts.

I wasn't sure where the threshold was for the icons, but I gather it may be something like 15ish for free accounts, which means I'm definitely over (even if I hardly use most of them).

I think I would disapprove of seed accounts having features that paid accounts don't get. Or vice versa, really - the advantage of seed accounts is supposed to be that it's like a permanent paid account.

As Denise noted on the thingpost, seed accounts have now "earned out", in that we've had more "paid" time than the cost of a seed account would have bought, but we retain our benefits in their gratitude for having funded the establishment of the site.

Go us!

I, too, would be unhappy about different perks for seed and paid accounts. I'm planning on buying random amounts of paid time to gift at some point (possibly yearly) so as to offset the ever increasing sensation of taking advantage that I have.
