Moments of Permanence - What is a phone, if it cannot telephone?

About What is a phone, if it cannot telephone?

My (Android) mobile phone has, for the last two days, stopped maintaining any kind of connection to the mobile network.

"No service," it declares. If I reboot it, it starts working again. Yesterday it continued working for some hours, but this morning it had lost service again, and now it loses it within minutes, it seems. While a friend on the same network, in the same house, still has service.

Is it still a telephone, is the question, if it cannot enact its own name in verb form?

Current Mood: too burnt out to deal

Yes, it is a broken telephone.

(And very annoying, I'll wager)
