A brief update on my broken leg

It isn't broken any more!
Today I got the non-permanent screw removed from my ankle, which means I can WALK again.
Not very far. I tire easily and I have NO MUSCLES in my left leg, AT ALL, but I can WALK.
So far I'm in no pain at all because the local anaesthetic hasn't worn off. And having a screw unscrewed *through your bones* is the WEIRDEST FEELING EVER - it vibrates all the way up your leg and it's just crazy.
I suspect the local is also why I can't sleep at all. They injected my ankle with a boatload of adrenaline and it's seeping into my bloodstream, or something, and I'm wired.
But my leg is officially Not Broken Any More.

Yay! Hope the recovery goes well.

Looking good so far! Serious incision pain only lasted a day or so. (I heal unusually fast. Chas and Jen have started teasing me about having a superpower good enough for Mystery Men.)
Hey, is your email still your-old-LJ-username@gmail? (Or, alternatively - check your Facebook messages?)

Also I just replied!
ahahaha "in Subi" IN THEORY I could probably walk IN PRACTICE I will almost certainly be getting a lift from Ollie because IN REALITY I can currently walk about twenty metres, tops, before I start to get tired. (It will be further by then, but *still*.)
I remember what that was like. Leg injuries suck!
(I replied again!)

We should!
I can even offer you the option of ~babysitting~, although I think not for such long periods as the All Day Monday for quite some time, but I could handle an hour or two of baby-supervising.
Even if I'm not up to running around *with* J-man, if he has a fall or something I'm now definitely capable of getting up and getting *to* him with alacrity.
The only caveat is this: I would, at this time, be unwilling to carry the Little Dude down the steps unless it's an emergency. Up would be fine, down is not, because I can't look down and *see* the steps very well while carrying a baby, and I'm still a bit nervous about going down stairs.
Hurrah! ... I hope you got some sleep.

I did eventually. :) And only slightly restlessly (by my standards). And the local anaesthetic lasted well enough overnight that pain didn't keep me awake.

INORITE
It's such an amazing relief. But I was particularly glad, in the end, that it was local anaesthetic instead of general not least because when I later had that stiff, weird, achey feeling you get when your joint needs to go *click*, and then I was rotating my ankle a little and it *did*, it made the LOUDEST CLICK IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE, and I suspect that could have really, really hurt.
