So, I was rubbing gently at the line of scar from the incision where my ankle was operated on, because it feels very soothing, and discovered that the little hard nub of scab at one end that didn't seem to be healing could and did come loose, and there's this little white tendril of... something.
The end was locked in scab, but this white thing goes from the outside to somewhere deep inside my foot.
*twitch*

tendon maybe?
if that happened to me I would legit PICK AT IT UNTIL I GOT IT OUT

So hey, no, not tendon. Internal suture - supposed to dissolve over the course of the next eighteen months.
Picking at it too long would be a bad idea because it's attached to delicate internal bits. I've subsequently had the outer part cut with ultra-sterile scissors by an emergency doctor, and the remaining thread slipped back inside and the hole has healed.
I know from when the doctor was testing it and tugging on it that pulling on it hard enough caused OH GOD OW.
