I'm a couple of weeks behind on my reading page again.

However, this post is actually for an Ask The Internet.

I have a Certain Friend who, despite all its... problems... still uses LiveJournal. And doesn't crosspost from DW because she doesn't like the DW interface.

She really, genuinely likes the default appearance of LJ.

Does anyone know how to make DW look like that?

Well, it depends, which particular of the interface does Certain Friend like? You can probably whip something together with the Firefox Stylish extension to give it a custom style. (Of course, DW are completely redoing their new post page so that it's no longer a clone of LJ's, at which point that page would get a little more complicated to alter).

the celerity option for the site pages has a similarly arranged page for posting, but the colours are diffrent. customise my web can bring the colours closer (i used it at first since i have neuro issues that make fast changes hard; i've since come to prefer celerity,t hough, so now i use it without mods).
