It amazed me how many people think "x is annoying or distasteful to me" is supposed to mean others simply stop doing x, when that's celebrating a religious festival, holding hands with a partner, breastfeeding in public, etc.
I pointed out one time to someone for whom seeing breasts is triggery due to past abuse that while that's a terrible thing to have to live with, it doesn't mean all infants in her view shouldn't be fed when they're hungry, direct from the faucet, and I compared it to Santa hats being triggery to me because of abuse issues. (Fortunately they're not, any more, but for a few years it was BAD, to the flashbacks and panic attacks point, when I was actively dealing with surfacing abuse memories.)
And her only response was to insist it was very different, since wearing santa hats is *harmless* and every body does it, but breastfeeding is DIFFERENT. And I pointed out that breastfeeding is also harmless, in fact it's protective, and if every body did it we'd have babies getting optimal nutrition.
