I don't really remember what chicken pox is like, I was about three when I had it and my dose was fairly mild. (Back then, it swept through the primary schools every couple of years; I caught on my sister's wave, before I actually started.)

But yes, it really was. Spider bites *can* be kind of nasty. Apparently in this instance my body just decided that whatever had been applied it DID NOT WANT, and that that particular piece of it was going to be surplus to requirements, or something...

On the bright side, there's no longer a big hole in my hand, as the skin/tissue below has sort of expanded to fill in the gap.
