Okay, so, updates on... stuff.
1) Suicidal tendencies are retreating.
2) Possibly not coincidentally, I have my computer back and the remaining problem was a software issue, now fixed. MY COMPUTER WORKS AGAIN.
3) However, the monitor I bought yesterday for better working has a seriously annoying flicker issue. I may have to return it.
4) Seriously, my computer works again. It got a new main board and a new optical drive which means the bits all work and even vague issues, like the power socket being faintly loose, are fixed because all that stuff is replaced with the board.
5) I AM GOING TO DROWN IN UNI WORK THOUGH so my plan for this afternoon involves doing a lot of that. Although I also want to practice playing my new bugle, because all housemates are out and therefore will not be suffering therefore.

(Also: Yay not suicidal. Obviously. There was more content to that comment in my head, amounting to something like "I know how horrible it is to be without a computer and am glad you're feeling better")

And I do have a bugle. Same antique shop where I bought my cane, there was a bugle for $30, and I bought it, because SERIOUSLY, and it is awesome, but I'm not very good at playing yet.
Still, it seems really very simple. *g*

I don't think you've been to ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif) mandragora2003's house, but she collects musical instruments in much the same way, her piano has like 5 different forms of pipes on it :)
Hurrah for being alive! Hurrah for working computers! Hurrah for ... bugles? "all housemates are out and therefore will not be suffering" ... Do you know Flanders & Swann's French Horn song? I don't think there's one for bugles though.
I am so glad you have your computer back and are feeling better! Good luck getting through the work.
Yay for working computers!!!! So glad that whole fiasco is finally behind you.
