Oooh, breathtaking! I love big old trees in winter; combined with water makes them even better!

Yes. For reasons that elude me, there's now a ferris wheel at the Esplanade, alongside the river. It's near the Barrack Street Jetty - though I realise that'll mean nothing to you, since you're not from Perth. :)

In the vicinity of Mill Point - it's a little park a short distance from the Old Mill.

The pond itself is shallow and muddy, but it looks terribly pretty when it's still and reflecting things, doesn't it?
