yeah, it boggles my mind. and it reminds me of the arguments some male writers make when women accuse them of writing either cardboard women or not having important women characters at all. HELLO! these are not the only choices! if you can't write believable women, that's not the fault of "over"sensitive people; it's a failure of your observational powers, and guess what? you can improve them! just like every other skill! this is not rocket science. there's even an oldtime saying for it: "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again".
and if you try and fail again, you don't get showered with cookies. yes, at least you tried, and that's worth something, but it doesn't exempt you from criticism! this is generally not how life works; if you step on somebody's foot they're gonna go "ow" every time, even if you did so while trying to avoid stepping in dog poop. you still did it. it still hurt. this is NORMAL, not "over"sensitive.
