Will be unavailable, pretty much, for probably about 24 hours.

I spilled water on my laptop and it's drying out. (Hopefully, not permanently damaged - it wasn't a huuuuge amount of water but apparently the Internet says it should have 24 hours of drying time, so I get a day without my laptop, which is possibly more distressing than it should be.) This post is coming to you from Chas's computer.

Fortunately I have some books and articles in hard copy, since most of my research stuff - including the list of library books I was going to look into at the library today - is on my laptop.

Nice. That means it'll be about twenty-four hours before you read this annoying comment saying "Ha! You spilled water on your laptop! Unco!"

But it was so much more complicated than that. I spilled water somewhere else entirely, and it splashed on my computer as part of the cleanup.
