I, wow.
In case those of you who wondered why I ever supported Hillary Clinton are still wondering. Video and transcript of her smacking some ass who's questioning whether the Obama Administration is "seeking, in any way, to weaken or overturn pro-life laws and policies in African and Latin-American countries" the hell down in the most brilliant and powerful way.
I know she has her flaws. I know she made mistakes on the campaign trail. But I still think she's an admirable woman, I still think she's brilliant, and I am so, so glad she is doing what she is doing in this area, and I am so, so glad that Obama is a president who'll let this be part of his administration's foreign (and domestic) policy, despite the wingnut uphill.

I must say, she's doing a very good job of quite effectively disarming republican criticism. Not just this, but that other video a few days ago.
Republican: "Is Obama trying to overturn pro-life laws in Africa and Latin America?" Clinton: "Yes. You're obviously welcome to try to keep them there, but given the policies of the Bush administration increased teen pregnancy in the US, you're obviously not very experienced at this whole reproductive health thing.."
As someone pointed out in comments at Shakesville, she has a simple-but-not-easy formula for dealing with this stuff. Compliment the opposition; defend human rights; make the opposition look stupid and cruel; finish graciously.
And she can do that extemporaneously, and yet with passion and confidence and strength and clarity. She can show her anger without losing control of it. She's amazing.
ahahahah that's fantastic. XD
I honestly think she's in the position she was meant to be in. I can't remember if I posted on my LJ about it, but as soon as Obama won the nomination and people started whispering about what Clinton's role would be (they were all talking VP), I was saying "She doesn't want VP (which in most cases - Cheney notwithstanding - is not a job with a lot of power) - she wants Secretary of State, and she'd be damn good at the job."
