Liveblogging: Tutorial
Our introduction exercise, instead of going around introducing ourselves, we pair off to talk about a set of questions and then introduce our partners to the rest of the class, which is an interesting approach. The lecturer/tutor is sitting at the head of the table smiling genially and looking entertained when we start arguing about things. (Primary topic of argument: "Who's your favourite historical character?")
Next up: an exercise in text analysis. Awesome.
I'm reading an 1835 text on yarn spinning machinery, progress thereof, with specific reference to the fineness and quality of yarn made feasible.
"... and whereas it was before supposed impossible to spin eighty hanks to the pound, as many as three hundred and fifty hanks to the pound have since been spun, each hank measuring 840 yards, and forming together a thread of a hundred and sixty seven miles in length!"
The rest is very obtuse.
So intense discussion started and I mostly stopped typing. A couple of people in my tutorial group kind of irritate me so far, but it should be okay, and the unit looks way, way more interesting than I'd thought from the handbook outline.

AHHHHH
So I downloaded the video version of my Linguistics lecture I missed while I was at uni, so I could catch up at my leisure with all the lecture slides etc.
Except for some reason? My Linguistics lecture is set with the slides for a lecture on Genomics.
*points at icon and flails*
I have e-mails to write to both my lecturers, now, both about Lectopia. One hasn't got downloadable lectures and the other ended up with the wrong slides.
