About March 31st, 2012

An open letter to the pizza delivery guy 07:00 pm
First, let me say this, Pizza Guy. I appreciate you delivering my food. I am home alone tonight - two of my housemates are overseas, and the third is just out for the evening. And I'm getting over a broken leg, so I'm limited in how much I can do around the house, especially at the moment, because I threw my back out last weekend (due to muscular weakness from not being able to do much physically for three months due to aforementioned broken leg). Arranging dinner would have been difficult and painful.

However, my appreciation is reduced somewhat when I, with my aching back and weak, achey ex-broken leg, have to come outside to help you find my house. When you called, you said you were at the house three doors down - you identified it by number.

I don't know how to tell you this in a way that doesn't sound condescending, but: those house numbers are there to help you find houses, and they are, in fact, in order. They're not randomised. Street numbers are not the lottery draw. You were on the right side of the street, so I'm guessing you'd worked out the odds/evens split, and... seriously. Just follow the numbers, in the direction approaching the one you're looking for, and you will, in fact, find our house, and I might, in fact, proceed to tip. Not finding my not-hard-to-find house gets you exact change.

Best,
Sami
