About July 18th, 2009

I'm finally starting to feel like I'm recovering from what happened on Wednesday. The last couple of days it's felt like I lost a good four months of recovery from depression etc, but it was just a temporary wobble caused by totally genuine and sufficient stimulus.

This afternoon I went to Harvey Norman and bought a tumble dryer. With long spells of damp weather lately, I've been having trouble getting my clothes to dry fast enough - the problem being that if they don't dry fast enough, they acquire a mildewy smell. Other people don't notice it, so it seems it's a faint smell, but to me it's obvious and highly unpleasant. (I have an above-average sense of smell and am allergic to mould - the two combine to make me hyper-aware of mouldy smells, I think.)

And so, I bought a dryer of my very own. I just unboxed it. It's an odd feeling, unpacking a Major Appliance I own - things like tumble dryers are stuff *grownups* own. As far as big ticket purchases go, getting a camera and a guitar didn't hit that button, but... it's a tumble dryer.

But I can have dry clothes.

I also bought a hand-held mini vacuum cleaner thing, because small messes/minor things in my bedroom are annoying to have to use a full-sized vacuum cleaner to use, plus my shoulder is less bad than it was but it still hurts to use the vacuum.

In other needing-to-shop news, I need to go buy trousers at some point soon, which I'm dreading. I hate clothes shopping, but all my pants are at least three or four years old and are getting more than a little worn.

Should have the house to myself for a good chunk of evening - somewhat looking forward to it, need to chill out a bit. (Housemates are going to a games evening at our collectively mutual friend Oliver's house - I'm invited, but don't feel up to going.) Going to hang on the couch with my guitar, I think. Haven't really practised much since Wednesday, overall, though this morning I was working on strumming rhythms while I did my morning internets reading.
