Moments of Permanence - June 2nd, 2009

About June 2nd, 2009

Tuesday: Still Not Dead 12:37 pm
Progress for today:

- Have talked to my psychologist.
- Have had breakfast (proper breakfast - Oliver checked) and meds.
- Slept late, even if I'm still tired.

Still to do today:

- Go to post office, send Chas his laptop's charger. Also picked up an audio cable, so I can connect my laptop's output to my guitar amp and use it as a speaker for my computer downstairs. :3 (There's a Bose shop near the post office.)
- Go to church, light candle for George Tiller.

At first I had trouble getting into the place - there was a dude there giving organ lessons who'd locked the door.

There was a little girl sitting in a pew, presumably attached to the organ instructor or his student. She watched me with what at first seemed like a kind of Children of the Damned intensity, and which I now realise was a product of a kind of bored desperation. I stopped on my way out to talk to her, Just In Case, and warn her off touching the candles.

She reacted with a sort of shyly desperate delight to be addressed that was kind of heartbreaking. So I talked to her a little longer - she didn't have anything to do, or read, so I pointed out that there were toys and books and things a little way away, in the children's area of the church (I've never been to the church before, but I knew what I was looking at). She smiled with tragic happiness to be noticed, but didn't seem like she felt she could move.

So I fetched her a couple of age-appropriate books from the kids' area, and silently cursed thoughtless adults. I might go back around half-past-two next Tuesday to see if the same people are there, and if they are, I might have Words about forcing sweet little girls to sit and be miserably bored.

- Go to grocery shop, buy food so I can continue to do something approximating eating properly.

Done. I bought two chunks of blade roast, which I shall roast, and then have a ready source of cooked meat; a couple of slices of roast beef with some rice and peas is, in my view, an adequate meal, and one that I can assemble even at a low ebb. (If I've ebbed too low, it's one that's not so difficult that I would feel unable to ask Dave or Oliver to assemble it for me, given we have microwave rice.) I also got some pre-shredded cheese, as grating is beyond me, for other options, some yoghurt for both happiness and health, and some Personal Care items.

... several of which were from the Nivea for Men line, because stuff made for men is, as far as I can tell, just like stuff made for women, except without the scented floral crap and with packaging that doesn't annoy me. (Hi, monochrome. Thanks for being all NOT PINK.)

Oh, and tea. A couple of kinds for me (white and chai green), and a box of black tea for when Chas's parents visit. (I, personally, cannot stand black tea, for reasons entirely to do with subconscious associations with bad childhood memories.

- Otherwise, rest. The walk will have been mild exercise, sunlight, and fresh air, which I acknowledge is helpful to my mental health. I'm still, however, recovering from a weekend that taxed the very limits of my resources, and tomorrow I have to go see my doctor and my psychologist, and I still have two assignments to do by Friday. (I may, however, be asking to defer my exam, because, seriously, limits, I have them.)

Resting may include working on Linguistics, in a poky sort of way. That's not really strain, per se.

I'm really, really glad I discovered Lightning, the Thunderbird calendar addon. It really helps to have my upcoming stuff as something that shows in a panel on my e-mail client.

Right, this was totally supposed to be a ficjournal 08:22 pm
