Gemcraft, Chapter Zero.

It's a bit harder than GemCraft, it has more battle modes, instead of water trenches you have gem-powered traps, and I have lost entire days to this.

Sometimes, when I lie in bed, before going to sleep, I can hear the pop-pop-pop of gem attacks hitting monsters, while rainbow-coloured lights flash before my eyes.

Pop-pop-pop.

Okay, I've never seen Gemcraft before and I'm only on the second battle and I'm stuck. I can't work out how to tell it which colour gem I want - are they random? I don't understand what some of the things are for, and there only seems to be a strategy guide, not an actual guide. Maybe I'm just too slow?

Thanks! This is helpful! I had got further after commenting, by repeating the first level and trying different uses of my skill points. I can't get the hang of the bomb (I never seem to hit what I'm aiming at), and haven't tried the mana pool spell yet. I wonder if that's what I need on the level I'm currently stuck on (level 7, I think, but I can't see 4 or 6).

I'd rather do it myself than cheatcopy the code. I'm not that frustrated yet! (The previous game I've been spending far too much time on, Enigma, there are levels where I would indeed cheat if I knew how because I'm pretty sure they're impossible with my reaction times.) Maybe I'll try Gemcraft Original before I go back to Chapter 0, though.
