It isn't censorship to disinvite someone from being honoured at a convention.

It isn't censorship to ban the person from attending, which hasn't happened.

Someone in that comment thread asks if censorship is okay just because it's private.

Actually, yes. Yes it is.

Freedom of speech is not a universal right. You don't have the right to say whatever you want, whenever you want.

It's like this.

As an Australian citizen, I have the right to enter Australia.

However, that doesn't mean I have the right to enter every house in Australia.

The government can't keep me out of my country, but you can keep me out of your house.

That's the difference.
