Well, I blew off Orkney because I realised that, what with one thing and another, like being semi-suicidal a little after midnight last night, it is fairly vital that I stay in places where it is possible for me to call home to cry at my loved ones.

Today I drove around Caithness and Sutherland before I came down to Inverness for the night - getting in to my room early enough that I can have a nice, relaxing evening just catching up on my photos and stuff.

My B&B overlooks the river Ness and has actual reliable wifi, so, you know, definite improvement.

Plus, I killed no wildlife today. Although I spent an extended period going through an area where there were sheep on the road, and had a guy lean on his horn for, literally, over five minutes straight because he was behind me on this one-lane track and I was going slower than he wanted me to.

Because I was avoiding hitting the sheep.

When I stopped completely he started blasting jabbily at me AND flashing his lights - all while the road was completely blocked by about twenty sheep that were in the process of scattering to the fields on either side.

Someone really, really needs to calm down and learn the realities of driving in the country...

Note that this interlude did not distress me, because I felt quite firmly that moral right was on my side.
