I had never seen one in real life before: today, we got a Chick Tract in our letterbox. (The Beast.)

My brother-out-law Chas tossed it to housemate Dave, declaring that since Dave is the only heathen in the house, obviously it must have been meant for him.

Dave's reaction can more-or-less be summed up as: "Uh-huh."

... Speaking of religion. Conversation I just had with [personal profile] velithya, aka Dean, whose wedding - to Chas - is this coming Sunday.

Me: Hmm.

Dean: Hm?

Me: [I explain that I've been looking into a nearby Anglican church, and found their website, and read out their statement: We affirm the Church’s mission, in obedience to Holy Scripture, is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in every generation. We acknowledge that this is Good News for people regardless of their gender, race or sexual orientation. We believe that, in order to strengthen the Gospel’s proclamation of justice to the world, and for the greater glory of God, the Church’s own common life must be justly ordered. To that end, we call on our Church to live out the promise of the Gospel; to celebrate the diverse gifts of all the members of the Body of Christ; and in the ordering of our common life to open the ministries of deacon, priest and bishop to those so called to serve by God, regardless of their sex, race or sexual orientation.] So they look like the kind of open-minded, progressive church I like to go to.

Dean: Might be worth checking them out... but maybe not this Sunday.

Me: Yeah, I've got stuff on this Sunday.

Dean: Oh? What's that?

Me: Oh, a couple of my friends are getting married.

Dean: That's nice. Anyone I know? [Starts laughing.] Dammit, I was doing so well.

Me: I don't think you've ever met the bride, actually, but you may know the groom reasonably well.

Dean: Is he hot?

Me: He's not my type, really. But he might be yours.

I am tired enough to find this hilarious. (Dean plans to marry Chas. She thinks he's attractive. I think Chas is the awesomest non-legally-adoptive big brother ever. I can't really imagine being attracted to him. This works well for all of us.)
